Japanese company Nintendo, a game publisher from many studios, announced the price increase for the open world adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch. Commentary posted on the journal website Game Informer.
At its Nintendo Direct event on February 9, the company announced that the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch on May 12 this year but will cost $70 instead of $60.
“We have set a suggested retail price on a case-by-case basis for any Nintendo project,” a company spokesperson said. He made sure Nintendo wouldn’t raise prices to $70 for all games at once.
The representative pointed out that during the announcement of the exact release date of the Pikmin 4 puzzle, it was stated that the novelty would not sell for $70, but would remain at the regular price of $60. The game is scheduled to be released on July 21.
Publishers such as Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft and Take-Two Interactive have already increased the price of their games to $70. The increase in prices has affected projects such as the slasher God of War: Ragnarok and the NBA 2K22 basketball simulator.
Also, a $70 price tag is being prepared for future releases: the Redfall adventure, the role-playing game Starfield, and the Assassin’s Creed Mirage game about an assassin in medieval Baghdad.
