Google developers are working on an experimental browser for iOS based on their own Blink engine, which is against Apple guidelines. In this respect informs Record.
It is worth noting that the current version of Google Chrome and other browsers on iOS and iPadOS use the Apple WebKit engine – otherwise the company does not allow programs in the App Store. But macOS has no such requirement for browsers.
Google claims that the Blink-based browser is an experimental prototype that “exists to understand certain aspects of iOS performance.” This version of the browser will not be available to users as it is against Apple policy.
It is assumed that Google is preparing for the fact that antitrust authorities can prevent Apple from forcing browser developers to use WebKit. In this case, Google will be one of the first companies to be able to publish its own browser based on its own engine in the App Store.
