first bells
If you decide to buy headphones from an unverified seller, you should first pay attention to the box of the gadget. Since the design and covers of the earphones were known long before the September event, most of them were picked up before the Apple presentation. However, some fakes come in a box from the first generation AirPods Pro. The modern iteration has updated packaging – it’s better to get used to it in advance how it should look.
If everything fits, you need to check the serial number and enter it on the Apple website. However, this method is not a panacea. Even our counterfeit, which cost $250 versus $50, was determined to be the original AirPods Pro 2. They’re even covered by Apple’s warranty. Most likely, fake headphones are assigned a real model number, and even all fake devices are “assigned” a number.
The box of fake headphones also differs in print quality, but this can only be revealed by close examination and comparison with the real box.
It is worth noting that the seal used to open the package on the fake earphone box is not different in quality from the one used by Apple.
It is also worth noting that on the packaging of the copy it says “AirPods Pro Wireless Charging Case” – and this is the main obstacle. The first models had such an inscription, and on the packaging of the new version the inscription was limited to “AirPods Pro”.
Coming to unpack, you should pay attention to the case of the headphones – now there is a hole for the speaker and an “ear”, through which the headphones can be attached to the straps. These elements are also present in the fake caught by the “socialbites.ca” reporter.
Other things that will help distinguish the fake AirPods Pro 2 from the original are the number of replacement earpads and the documentation. Real headphones should have six tips – two more than the previous generation. Presumably, along with the box of the first-generation AirPods, he inherited his fake kit – there are four of them. In addition, the fake headphones are also supplied with paper instructions in the kit. The print quality is noticeably worse and the images are different from the original version.
headphones
When you take the original and fake AirPods Pro 2 out of the box, you can immediately identify the fake one. Firstly, the quality of the plastic betrays the cheapness, and secondly, the case covers snap back and are attached to the magnet in different ways. There are no questions about the body of the original headphones. However, if you buy used headphones, it will be more difficult to identify a fake, since a weak magnet and a “loose” cover can be attributed to active use, which also applies to original models.
You can also identify fake headphones by the number of sensors covered by a grille in the case of the headphones: three of them are in the new generation, two in the first generation, and for the fakes.
But the masters put the serial number not only on the cover of the case, but also on the headphones. They differ in size and print quality – they are smaller and thinner in the original text.
The most surprising thing is that the fake headphones support wireless charging, including the use of magnetic MagSafe.
But in this case, it is very easy to distinguish them from real headphones – in the original headphones there is an audible notification that the process of charging the battery has begun. This was made possible thanks to the appearance of the speaker in the AirPods Pro 2 case. The fake has a speaker grille, but the speaker itself turned out to be a dummy.
ON
Connecting fake AirPods to iPhone is accompanied by the same animation as when connecting real models. But even here there are nuances.
For example, fake AirPods do not have the adaptive transparency feature found only in AirPods Pro 2. It is possible that the novelty will appear or already exist in some of the next fake iterations of existing Apple headphones.
If you set up the headset search via the Locator app, you can turn on the audio signal from the case on the original models, but also find it using a sort of guide and the Find Nearby function, just as it works with AirTag. . Fake headphones do not have these features.
Sound
You shouldn’t expect the same sound quality as the original AirPods Pro 2 from a fake device. However, we must admit that for affordable headphones they cope with this task with 3-4 points out of 5. Also, not every fake can boast of having wireless charging. They even have active noise reduction and transparency, but both work very poorly.
The volume of the original and fake headphones is almost the same – the difference reaches a maximum of 10%. There is fake bass, but they are not very saturated, and the sound itself is very flat – music is perceived much better on real AirPods.
However, for inexperienced gadget users, it will be very difficult to identify fake headphones by sound, especially if there is no way to compare them with the real AirPods Pro 2.
Also, fake versions of AirPods even have a “Spatial Sound” function, but in reality it turned out to be a non-working dummy.
Output
In current conditions, you have to be very careful when choosing headphones – now it’s very easy to stumble upon a fake, given that AirPods Pro 2 is not officially shipped to Russia.
If you’re on a tight budget, but still really want to “touch” Apple, you shouldn’t choose a fake because these models won’t be able to offer you anything but a similar design. In this case, it is better to consider the offers of famous Chinese brands, which offer more interesting models for the same price, in which all the declared functions fully work.
