The IT giant announced at its annual conference that the new feature will be part of the Google Lens utility, which is now built into the search engine. The patient will be able to take a photo of the prescription from a doctor, and the artificial intelligence will independently “understand” what kind of drugs are prescribed. To implement such a translator, Google needed to work closely with pharmacists from around the world.
For now, this feature only works in Hindi as India is home to the largest number of Google Lens users. However, the company plans to expand the translator’s geography by adding other European languages, including English and Russian.
