The pro-Russian hacker group Killnet told socialbites.ca that they wanted to show the vulnerability of the US security system by hacking a software supplier for American prisons.

“With this hack, we want to show how pathetic America’s security system is. By hacking the Advanced Technologies Group, we could potentially lead all US prisons to revolt,” said a representative of the hacker group.

Killnet announced on the afternoon of December 18 that Advanced Technologies Group, one of the leading software providers of the US Department of Corrections, had been hacked. According to them, the hackers managed to gain access to US prisoners’ data, phone conversations, as well as personal data of correctional officers. As confirmation, the hackers posted on their Telegram channel a recording of a conversation allegedly made by one of the American convicts.
