The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation plans to propose a bill that will allow Russians with iPhone and iPad to download mobile applications not only from the App Store, but also from other services. It has been reported TASS referring to the words of the head of the department, Maksut Shadayev.

“The Ministry of Digital Development is preparing a similar European Commission bill that would oblige owners of mobile device platforms to implement these options,” said the head of the Ministry of Digital Development.

The initiative will be proposed for consideration by the State Duma in the first quarter of 2023.

In November this year, the European Union passed the so-called digital markets law, which regulates the activities of IT giants. According to experts, if Apple goes into operation, the Cupertino company will have to allow downloading applications to the iPhone not only from the App Store, but also from third-party sources.

Earlier, developer Vavilov explained why. Push notifications are disabled on iPhone.
