On iPhone smartphones, push notifications can be turned off automatically at Apple’s discretion and this will not be affected in any way by gadget users. This was told socialbites.ca by iOS developer Ivan Vavilov.
“Push notifications for any app are sent directly by Apple. The submission confirmation goes through the app developer company’s server, but the delivery mechanism is implemented by Apple servers,” he explained.
According to Vavilov, the current rules of the Cupertino company state that the notification delivery server cannot be somehow replaced by your own server.
“In this case, the iPhone manufacturer has full control over which apps are allowed to do this. I assume this was foreseen, including preventing massive spam notifications from apps that could cause negative users and affect Apple’s reputation,” the expert said.
The developer explained that app authors can try to replace push notifications, but this will incur additional costs. “Exchange is only possible via SMS or e-mail. There is also a method through messages in messengers, which is also used by banks in Armenia and Kazakhstan,” he said.
Push notifications on iPhones disappear when an app is removed from the App Store. Gadget owners can continue to use the previously downloaded version, but without the notification function.
