The management of the hospital at Emory University in the United States fired nurses who recorded viral TikTok videos where they discussed and laughed at women giving birth. Portal reports Dexerto.
In the videos, midwives talked about “what makes them angry” with patients. “It drives me crazy when you ask about a baby’s weight and it’s still in your arms,” one of the nurses said in the video.
Many commenters were outraged by such content, pointing out that it is unacceptable to post such videos by medical professionals. One of the comments says, “And the professionals who lack any ethics piss me off.”
Shortly after the scandal, the management of the clinic, where nurses work, made a statement about the situation. The comment states that the employees in question are “former”, stating that they were laid off.
“We are aware of TikTok videos that contain disrespectful and unprofessional comments about women giving birth at Emory University Hospital in Midtown. “We’ve looked into the situation and have taken appropriate action against the former employees responsible for the video.”
