Sony has confirmed the start of development of a new episode of the Uncharted action adventure for PlayStation 5, but the project will not be a sequel, but a reboot of the popular series. Portal reports Leak citing two sources.
“Uncharted will not get a fifth episode, it will get a full reboot. Sony has decided to restart the series,” one of the sources said.
According to two independent sources, Sony made the decision in early 2022, but the company has only now decided that an unknown studio will develop the project. Naughty Dog is expected to assist the new team in the early stages.
According to sources, two options for the development of the series are currently being studied – rebooting with Nathan Drake, the protagonist of the previous episodes, but in his youth or a completely new character, and Drake will only appear in one of the episodes. Sources indicate that the new game will not be announced anytime soon, as development has just begun.
