How to Access the “A Threat in the Dark” Quest in Genshin Impact
“A Threat in the Dark” is one of the main missions in the questline. “Notes from a Journey Deep in the Rift” The latter is also directly related to the task of the Archons “Requiem of Echoing Depths: Volume 2, Chapter 4”
To start this mission, you must first complete the following missions:
- An unexpected encounter in the depths.
- The Secret of the Qixing Rocky Gates.
- The beginning of the exploration of the depths.
- A floating piece of heavenly stone.
When you do this, the associated job appears in the Job Log. Click “Track” so that two markers appear on the map.
How do you get to the first bell and ring it?
According to the quest, you need to find two bells and ring them to dispel the black fog. One is in the northwest of the site, the other in the southeast. The map of the Rift region in Genshin Impact has been made clumsy, as in most cases it’s not clear whether you need to go up or down. Therefore, you may encounter difficulties in finding the right way.
Teleport to the Stone Halls and follow the road north through the Unnamed Ruins. At the entrance of the cave, a Ruin Thresher awaits you, and immediately afterwards you will encounter a new enemy – the Black Serpent Knight. The latter will appear as you approach the wall.
Go to the marked area and find the fairy. Follow her, examine the box and find a stele that reacts to light. Approach it with a loaded adjuvant so that a stream of air appears in front of you. Climb up and kill the abyss mage.
Use the adjuvant to activate the device the abyssal mage stood next to. Now you can hit it, releasing light spots and removing the dark liquid. It is enough to clean one of the four mechanisms nearby, after which you can restore the energy of light and use the adjuvant on other stones.
When all the stones have been cleared of the dark liquid, two inhabitants of the Rift will appear. Take them and ring the bell.
How do you get to the second bell and ring it?
Return to the Stone Halls and follow the road south. Here you see a descent down. Keep going down until you reach a fast travel point.
Immediately after, fly to the ruined bridge and climb up to the building. Here you have to kill the ruin thresher to get in. Once you’ve done that, enter the building and look for two fairies. If you solve the puzzle, you can open a precious chest and activate the wind current.
To do this, place the fairies next to the steles that respond to light. These steles are located in opposite parts of the building. Ignite the device for light and then approach the last stele with loads of light.
Jump into the wind current and climb to the top of the building. Place the fairy next to the opposite stele and activate the device to open the grid. Go down, defeat the ruin thresher and ring the bell. Don’t forget to interact with the hilichurls and collect valuable items from the rich chest.
How to get rid of the fog and complete the quest “A Threat in the Dark”
Once the two clocks are active, return to the black mist in the Unnamed Ruins. You will see a cutscene where the fog will lift, but two enemies will appear – Agnarr and Egill. These are well-known monsters that you may have already encountered while completing other quests.
You can do a lot of damage to these enemies when they are next to each other. Use the Traveler’s anemo skills to do this. When the monsters have some health left, they activate their shields. Try to keep the opponents close together. This way you pay them much faster.
After the battle, you will receive the achievement “The Torment of the Black Mist…”, as well as the following rewards:
- Adventure Experience (450);
- Source stone (50);
- Mora (50,000);
- Magic ore of reinforcement (6);
- Special magic cube.
