As part of the Nintendo Direct presentation, an HD remaster of the 1997 cult shooter was announced GoldenEye 007 shows a short trailer with the logo. After the announcement, screenshots appeared on the network showing the updated graphics.
The remaster is being worked on by Rare Studios. It will only be released on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, where it is part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. The updated version gets achievements, 4K resolution (Xbox only), and local multiplayer (Nintendo also has online multiplayer). A release date for the remaster has not yet been announced.
The original, released on the Nintendo 64, received a Metacritic score of 96/100.
