If you’re reading this guide, you’ve probably already tried uninstalling Cortana from the menu “Installing and Removing Programs”. Since the program is installed by default in the new version of the operating system, the system blocks this function. In other words, you simply cannot uninstall the application in the usual way. Below we will tell you how to disable Cortana and remove the application from Windows 10/11 permanently.
Disable Cortana in Windows 10/11
Open “Task Manager” using keyboard shortcuts “Ctrl+Shift+Esc” or Ctrl+Alt+Del. Click “More” at the bottom of the window and go to the tab “To start”.

Find an app Cortana. Click PKM and select “Turn of”.

Now Cortana is not enabled automatically when Windows starts. This should be enough for the application to stop consuming OS resources.
How to Uninstall Cortana from Windows 10/11
If you want to completely remove an application from Windows 10/11, you must use “Command Line” or Windows PowerShell. We recommend the second option.
Open the menu “Get started” and type in the search bar “PowerShell” without quotes. Click on the program PKM and choose “Run as administrator”.

In the window that opens, paste the following line and click Enter:
- Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.549981C3F5F10 | Remove AppxPackage

After a few seconds, the Cortana app will be completely removed from the system. Of course, some information about Cortana will remain in the registry files, but we strongly advise against changing these settings.
