Yesterday’s announcement The Blood of Dawnwalker, a dark action RPG from former authors The Witcher 3 led to an unexpected effect: the gaming community immediately started comparing the game The Witcher 4. Some fans who criticized the December trailer featuring Ciri called the project a true heir to “The Wild Hunt” in absentia.
However, most gamers believe that The Blood of Dawnwalker and The Witcher 4 do not interfere with each other. One such post on social network X was viewed half a million times and caught the attention of both studios.
“Dawnwalker looks great, and The Witcher 4 looks great too. Both games can coexist. The presence of the first does not mean that the other is dead. This is not a competition. Show some respect,” the gamer wrote.

The message in support of the two games was retweeted by Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, head of development for The Blood of Dawnwalker, and Patrick Mills with Philipp Weber from CD Projekt RED. The latter also stated that both studios communicate closely with each other.
Anyone who tries to pit our games against each other is doing the devil’s work. Our teams have a long history together: we hang together, play together, and our group chats are full of mutual praise. There is nothing here but love.
The culture wars will continue, but these games share a common pedigree and shared values.
Today Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz and I joked about how the eyes in the darkness of our trailers referred to Midnight Mass to convey the idea from the beginning.
Many developers from our studios are friends, and we love to see our friends succeed! (Also look at Midnight Mass).
Both games do not yet have an exact release date. The gameplay of The Blood of Dawnwalker is expected to be shown in the summer of 2025.
