Well-known dataminer Gabe Follower reported that Valve is already conducting internal testing Half-Life 3. If all goes well, the announcement of the new part could take place in 2025.

In the latest video, Gabe Follower analyzed new data from the code of Valve games. Presumably, for a project called HLX (possibly Half-Life 3), navigation in the mode of altered gravity, a system of ignition of the entire surface, the advanced physics of hair and the disintegration of objects are being refined all the time. In addition, there were hints about the implementation of a normal water system for Source 2 (without the ‘crutch’ in the form of texture) and real-time ray tracing.
As the dataminer noted, Valve has reportedly recently started internal testing of HLX, involving not only other teams but also friends and family members in the task. He said that was the last time such playtests were conducted Impasse and Half-Life Alyx, after which the style was changed for the first and the plot for the second was rewritten. If the HLX tests are successful, the game could be announced as early as 2025.
Let’s not forget that Gabe Follower previously talked about Valve’s active hiring of new employees. To develop their projects, the studio invited the creators of Doom, Red Dead Redemption 2 and other AAA games.
