Developers The Thing: Remastered, a re-release of the original 2002 horror shooter, has shared new information about the project. In particular, the creators have reworked the mechanisms of infection – it will become more realistic.
One of the biggest problems with the original was its strange infection system. Some NPCs could even contact the alien “something” without contact, according to the script, which the players didn’t like. Therefore, the developers of the Nightdive studio decided to remove scenario transformations, which made some heroes more susceptible to infections.
Moreover, survivors of NPC infection may even suffer mental trauma.
The Thing remaster will be an ‘enhanced version’ of the original game, retaining the spirit of the original. The developers will restore the graphics and add volumetric lighting, as well as fix some gameplay mechanics, making the gameplay more friendly for new gamers. The game runs at a framerate of up to 120 FPS on modern systems.
The Thing: Remastered will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch and PC. The exact release date is not yet known, but system requirements have appeared.
