The other day The Witcher 4 has entered its active production phase, as announced by CD Projekt RED. Eurogamer spoke to the studio developers and learned a few new details about the game’s creation.
According to CDPR technical vice president Charles Tremblay, the new The Witcher will be released more widely than its predecessor and in much better technical condition than Cyberpunk 2077. To do this, the studio divided the production into several projects with different levels of verification.
The game will also most likely be released immediately on PC and consoles without early access, as was the case with Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios. In addition, the studio will launch a long-term marketing campaign for The Witcher 4 – just under two years will pass from the moment of announcement to the game’s release. However, the developers have also learned the lessons of Cyberpunk 2077, so they promise not to create hype, but simply to “whet the fans’ appetite.” They are also willing to work more carefully on the platforms for the game so that the story with PS4 and Xbox One does not repeat itself.
Let us remind you that The Witcher 4 is being developed under the codename Project Polaris on the Unreal Engine 5. The release date of the game remains unknown.
