Developing remakes is a difficult job because you have to find the perfect balance between the original and new ideas. Alkimia Interactive studio, working on it Gothic 1 Remake, I decided to play a little with the image of orcs.
In a recent interview with GRYOnline, studio head Reinhard Pollice said the remake is being developed for both old and new audiences. To please everyone, the creators did not interfere with the main plot, but corrected some secondary quests and deepened the knowledge about the factions.
The orcs in the remake in particular will be further developed. Even in the original, the magician Xardas stated that the green-skinned villains are not actually animals, and that their culture is close to humans. And in the third part the orcs were a highly developed civilization. Therefore, in Gothic 1 Remake, players can learn more about this race through additional quests.
Gothic is a game in which you always have freedom of choice, even when it comes to relationships with orcs. During the game you can earn their respect. In the original you may have been tolerant of them, but in the remake we go even further: you may not be able to join them, but in return you will learn a lot more about orcs and even complete some quests.
Gothic 1 Remake is scheduled for release in Spring 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will have Russian voice acting and translation.
Developers from Alkimia Interactive previously showed a new screenshot of the remake. This time they conquered the rice fields of the New Camp.
