Steam now has advanced video recording, which competing services don’t have

The Steam client has received another important feature: the ability to record videos. The functionality is available to all users.

Now players can create and edit clips, highlight the most interesting moments and share them with friends. Steam also supports background recording and automatically saves the last 120 minutes to your storage device, up to your storage space limits.

The most interesting thing is the improved time scale, where important events are automatically highlighted. For example in the video op Dota 2 will be able to immediately tell when Roshan was killed.

Edited videos can be transferred between devices: for example, from a computer to a phone or from a Steam Deck to a computer.

Valve noted that video recording works in all games that have the Steam overlay.
