If you’ve had enough of a static image on your desktop, you can turn it into an animated splash screen. Unfortunately it won’t work just to put any file – you have to use specialized programs. We will cover them in this guide.

A small utility that allows you to place an animated startup screen on your desktop. It comes with 12 live wallpapers.
Installation and configuration procedure:
- Download the program from the link and install it.
- Run live wallpaper from the desktop icon or the Start menu.
- Wait for the initial installation to complete.
- Choose whether the program starts automatically when you turn on the computer or not.
- Then select one of the 12 preset options.
Any screensaver can be customized. For example, install it on multiple monitors or just one of them. To do this, after choosing a wallpaper, enter “Control panel” in the program itself.
To put your own version of the splash screen, click the “+” icon, which is located on the left side of the program window.
After that, you can select a file on your computer or provide a link to the site where it is located. It can be an animated GIF or a full video. There are even dedicated live wallpaper sites like shadertoy.com.
Desktop Live Wallpaper
Another utility designed to install animated startup screens. It can be downloaded from the Microsoft App Store at this link. Unlike Lively Wallpaper, there are no wallpapers included with the program, you will have to find them yourself and download them to your computer. Then specify the location of the file in the “Browse folder” field.

This program belongs to the authors Genshin Impact is sure to appeal to anime lovers. After the installation, a beautiful girl will appear on the screen, who will look at you. You can also interact with it – the program offers an extensive set of animations. In addition, the application has some built-in static and live wallpapers of Genshin Impact games, Honkai Impact 3rd and Guns GirlZ. Unfortunately, you cannot add your own screensavers in this program. You can download N0va Desktop for free on Steam and the Epic Game Store.
