Wukong – Why You Need It and How to Find It

The first item you need to find is the Ravenous Protoworm, which is located in Webbed Hollow. You can get it by defeating the Elder Cupidworm boss in the Leaf Bridge in Webbed Hollow.

Start at the Keeper’s Shrine, cross the bridge and go left from where the Grasshopper Guai appears.

Continue along the path and on the right you will see a room full of chests (five of them), in one of them you will find a new medicine recipe. Go through the web to the other side of the room and you will come to the Elder Cupidworm.

This boss is a giant worm that can spray huge amounts of poison around itself. The strategy to defeat it is quite simple:

When the Elder Cupid Worm starts spraying poison and flailing its limbs, back away from it to an unreachable distance. Once the boss has completed its attack, it will be unable to move for a short time. Hit it at this point.

After defeating the boss, he will drop a Proto-Raven Worm.

The second item you need is Rice Cocoons. They can be found during the passage of Webbed Hollow. You will need a total of three Rice Cocoons to complete the Elder Cupidworm mission. To do this, simply break the cocoons that you find along the way.

With both key items at your disposal (three rice cocoons and a voracious proto-worm), you can begin the Elder Cupidworm quest, but before that you’ll need to unlock the Ruyi Scroll Secret Area, a special location where all merchants and vendors found in the game can be found. Once you unlock Ruyi’s Scroll, visit Chen Lung at the Shrine. If you have a Ravenous Protoworm in your inventory, he will ask you to pick it up. Rest at the Guardian’s Shrine and then return.

To the right of the baskets is a proto-voracious worm, which looks small and completely harmless, unlike the worm the battle with earlier took place.

The insatiable proto-worm must be fed three rice cocoons, and after eating them, it must rest again in the Guardian Sanctuary. After doing this, the purple ghost of the Elder Cupidworm will appear in the gluttonous proto-worm’s place.

The spirit of the Elder Cupidworm transforms the character into the enormous, colossal form of a giant worm, the same species fought in Webbed Hollow.

The main attack of the Elder Cupidworm spirit is Foul Spray: the worm sprays poison from its tail, many poison pools remain on the ground for quite a long time, allowing you to poison multiple enemies at once (classic AOE attack). As a passive effect, the spirit increases the chance of a critical hit while poisoned.

The Spirit of the Elder Cupidworm isn’t the strongest in the game, but at the same time it’s perfect for creating some interesting builds based on AOE damage from a poison attack.
