As you go Star Wars Outlaws gives you the chance to upgrade Kay’s speeder. To unlock the temporary speed boost, you’ll need to meet Selo, also known as The Mechanic, and complete her expert mission. This is a pretty tough feat due to some obstacles. However, it’s worth doing if you want to move around the game world faster with a speeder.
How to start a mission
To start the mission “Mechanics” in Star Wars Outlaws, you need to talk to Danka’s contact at the Daruda Diner in Jaunta’s Hope. Go there with your speeder, or use the fast travel point if you already have it activated. Go inside and talk to the bartender. She will tell you that you need to talk to Selo Rovak, also known as “Mechanic”.
Since the bartender hasn’t seen Selo in a while, he advises you to go to a windcatcher settlement called Kadua to talk to her friends. The location will appear on your map.
Where to find the village of Rovak
Kadua is located west of the Mirogana Valley. You will see two villagers working there and after they talk briefly, you can talk to one of Seloh’s friends to ask where she can be found. He will tell you to go to the rock northeast of Jaunta’s Hope.
Once you reach your desired waypoint, you will find Selo’s shop, where she will be sitting outside on the edge of the cliff. Interact with the girl to request a job to upgrade your speeder, and she will ask you to find a special part she needs for that: the Atmospheric Accelerator. She will give you magnetic disruptors, which will come in handy soon.
Where can you find a wind turbine?
The first part of the mission is to find a wind harvester. Luckily, Selo has marked this location on your map, northwest of Jaunta’s Hope. You can drive your speeder to the side of the mountain.
The village will tell you to place the magnetic disruptors they gave you earlier on the console on the platform to the left of the fan. This will stop the movement of the device and allow you to enter.
Drive your speeder through the tunnel. The exit is blocked, but you can turn right into another branch of the tunnel, which will take you to where you need to be.
Where can you find the atmospheric accelerator?
Now comes the hard part. As you approach the entrance, walk under the bridge in front of you instead of over it. Otherwise, the fan on the bridge will cause damage. Once under the bridge, you will encounter an energy barrier that you must disable.
Send Nix to disable the energy barrier, he can use the ventilation system on the right. Once the barrier is disabled, go inside and make your way to the large ventilation system.
You then have to climb the stairs to a tunnel full of fans. Walk across the bridge to the first two big fans. Now you have to be patient. The fans turn on and off, so you have to time your movements well. When the two fans turn off, walk past them to avoid getting hurt.
Once you get past the fans, you’ll go to a platform where another fan is constantly spinning. To disable it, shoot the node on the left. This will disable the fan and allow you to pass.
Next, you need to climb the grid system on the wall. Jump over each grid when prompted, but stop at the large fan and wait for it to turn off. Once it does, quickly walk past it.
You will then come across a tunnel with a large hole at the top. Jump into the tunnel and make your way through the pipe until you reach a narrow passage.
Squeeze through to reach a large tunnel area where you’ll encounter even more fans.
Your path is blocked by two large structures moving back and forth from the wall. If they are inside the wall, quickly run past them.
Then walk across the yellow lattice structure to climb up the wall. Once you reach the top, you need to jump onto another fan and then climb to the fan above. Time it right or you will be blown off the wall.
You will then enter a tunnel with a container. Go around the castle and loot the loot inside.
Just outside the tunnel you need to shoot the two glowing nodes on either side of the spinning fan to prevent it from moving.
Then you can cross to the other side.
Jump onto the yellow beam and jump back over the fan. Climb onto the grate above. Continue up the posts and grates and drop onto the platform.
More of these structures will fly out of the wall. Wait for them to return to their starting position to run past them and continue climbing the yellow grid. When prompted, jump up the yellow beams and platform edges.
Once you get to the top, you need to use the structures that fly out of the wall to jump over it. You need to time your jump so that the bottom two are on the outside and the top two are on the inside, because they will shoot you down. If you see a chance, quickly jump all the way.
Use more yellow levers and move between the fans when they are off. After these two fans, the grates will lead you to another ventilation system.
Enter the ventilation system and go up the stairs at the end of the tunnel. This will take you to the control room, where you can look around and collect useful items before taking the Atmospheric Booster from the terminal when prompted. You finally have it.
To escape the wind machine, exit the control room through the door to the left of the terminal and use the grappling hook on the marked spots to reach the large fan on the opposite wall.
When you get there, your speeder will be waiting for you. Drive it through the disabled fans and through the long tunnel to exit the ventilation system.
Return to Selo’s shop and show her the Atmospheric Accelerator. This will complete the mission and unlock the Speed Boost ability, which you can use on your speeder. This will increase your speed for a short time.
