Remember the question marks on the Skellige Islands, which took an insane amount of time to clear? During the latest CD Projekt RED 20th Anniversary Stream, Philipp Weber, Associate Quest Designer at The Witcher 3 admitted that this is partly his fault.

According to Weber, the end of development was approaching and the team had to fill in the leeway.

I can openly admit that I am one of those people who questions. It was already the end of 2014, so shortly before the release we decided to just put them all over the world map. We didn’t have much time, so we said to ourselves, ‘Okay, it’s not perfect, but we just have to do it.’

At the same time, Weber has an excuse: It turns out that CDPR wouldn’t highlight all the points of interest initially.

I have a lot of terrible – I can say that because I made them – smugglers’ hideouts. Although we initially created them and added seagulls circling the caches. We had no intention of putting markers on the map.

I fully agree that this was a mistake. I wouldn’t do that again.

— Philip Weber

Now Philipp Weber is working on a campaign for the new part’The witch. Apparently the game will be dedicated to a resident of the Lynx School.
