Black Myth: Wukong is a soul-stirring action RPG based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. Like FromSoftware’s projects, this game features hidden locations that are easy to miss. Find out how to find secret places in the open world of Wukong in our guide.
In the first, second and fourth chapters of the main story, you will come across hidden locations. Each of them has a very strong boss, the fight against which is a real test. If you missed one of the secret places, you can return to it through the Guardian Shrines. And if you have already killed the main villain, select “Continue” to return to the open world of Wukong. The main thing is not to use the “Enter a new cycle” option in the main menu. This will start New Game+ and overwrite your current save.
Ancient Guanyin Temple
This location can be opened in the very first chapter. You need to ring three bells.
The first bell. In the Wolf Woods you will find a fast travel point called Outside the Forest.
From there, run along the left path to the wooden bridge and then walk along the road, which is lit by torches. This will take you to the arena, where the boss Guangzhi is waiting for you. He looks like a wolf with a staff. Defeat him and ring the bell.
Second bell. In Bamboo Grove you will need the Snake Trail teleportation point.
Facing the shrine, turn left, go over the rocks and go down to the river. On the right, you will see a path leading to a bamboo forest. Follow the paved road to the end. It will lead you to a boss named Guangmou. After defeating them, interact with the bell.
Third bell. In the same Bamboo Grove, find a fast travel point called the Marsh of White Mist.
Access to it will open after defeating the boss Whiteclad Noble. Follow the left path until you see a large cave. There is another bell.
After you ring all three bells, you will be teleported to a new location called Ancient Guanyin Temple.
Defeat the Elder Jinchi, then examine the body hanging nearby. This will give you the Vessel Fireproof Mantle. She will help you in the battle with the final boss of the first chapter, where you will have to defend yourself from his flames.
Kingdom of Sahali
In the second chapter you will encounter a drunken boar. It is located at the Fright Cliff location, near the Rockrest Flat shrine.
From there you need to go straight to a small meadow. There is an animal there that wants to sober up. To reach the secret area you need to complete his questline.
After talking to the boar, go to the Yellow Wind Formation location. You need a teleportation point called Windrest Bridge.
Run to the other side and turn left towards the houses. Enter the building on the right and find a gold barrel. Break it and get the Sobering Stone.
Take it to the boar and talk to him. It is important to hear everything he says. Scroll through the dialogues until they start repeating themselves.
Then head towards the Crouching Tiger Temple. You need a shrine called Temple Entrance.
Buy a Jade Lotus from the shop. Go up the stairs and take the second passage on the right. There you will meet the drunken animal again. Give him the flower and talk about all the available topics.
Go back to where you first met the boar. There you will meet a Yellow-Robed Squire. Defeat him and then follow the drunkard to the big gate. This will take you to the secret location of the kingdom of Sakhali.
Your goal is to reach the top of the cliff where the man is standing. Talk to the man and then defeat the boss named Fuban. Defeating him will reward you with the Wind Tamer, a special weapon that is extremely useful against flying bosses.
Purple Cloud Mountain
To reach this secret area, you must defeat the Venom Taoist. To do this, go to the Webbed Hollow location, to the Pool of Shattered Jade shrine.
Follow the path until you see a spider cocoon. Hit it. After this, a boss will appear that you have to fight. It is true that you cannot defeat him, because he will run away.
To find the monster again, use the Court of Illumination teleportation point, located in the Temple of the Yellow Flower.
From the shrine, turn back and run along the path. At the fork, turn left and continue until you see a boss cutscene. Kill him completely, then interact with the wall behind him.
This will take you to Purple Cloud Mountain. There are two bosses waiting for you. To the right of the entrance is The Scorpionlord and at the top is Duskveil.
