Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a new part of the hurricane shooter, which will be released in the very near future. Although there is still a veil of secrecy hanging over the project, many details and features are known to us. In this guide, we will put all the information together and tell you what to expect from Black Ops 6.
Release date and platforms
Let’s start with the most important. According to official information, the game will be released on October 25, 2024. But there are some questions about the indicated platforms. In addition to the usual PS5, Xbox Series X / S and PC, the project will look at the previous generation – Xbox One, PS4, which means that you should not expect anything incredible from the graphics. The most that fans can expect is a stable frame rate and just beautiful images, without wow effects.
The acquisition of Activision Blizzard did not go unnoticed by Microsoft, which is why Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on Xbox Game Pass at launch, on both consoles and PC.
Gameplay changes
Despite the usual shooting range, which the new ‘Kolda’ undoubtedly is, the developers have a number of gameplay changes in store. First of all, omnimovement is an effect reminiscent of Max Payne’s main skill. Now you can jump in any direction and make roundhouse shots in slow motion. It is not yet entirely clear how well this skill will perform in a first-person camera, but the creators are confident of success.
Another, less important innovation was the ability to move in any direction, as long as the hero only looked straight ahead. The developers said that they were inspired to such a move by real military personnel, who very often move in this way on missions. Before that, the hero was tied to the image in front of him.
The newest feature that is already known is the redesigned “help” system: Intelligent Movement. You can now configure options in the menu that allow the main character to automatically go through the sprint, crouch and cover phases. At the same time, simplifications will also work in multiplayer. According to Matt Scrons, associate director at Treyarch, the motivation for creating the system was the team’s desire to “focus all players on what they want to do, not how to do it.”
In our opinion, the decision is controversial, as it will bring the new Call Of Duty even closer to the shooting range, and in battles against living people it will give some unfair advantages, and therefore the feature will be abused.
New-old reward system
Many will be pleased with the return of the Prestige system, which disappeared in the last parts. Now players must reach the maximum development level and then receive prestige titles. When the last rank 10 is reached, another 1000 master ranks will open. In general, all fans of multiplayer can now prepare themselves – it will take a long time to reach the top.
Storyline
But a lot is known about the history. The events will take place during the Gulf War, that is, in the 1990s. We will play as an agent who will have to work not only on military operations, but also in the city, which will provide serious variety. Car chases and even motorcycle chases have been reported. They promise the return of several characters from previous Black Ops, as well as the appearance of prominent historical figures – George HW Bush, Bill Clinton and even Margaret Thatcher. There is no point in talking about authenticity, since the series has never striven for it, but we will definitely see some familiar episodes, albeit in a slightly different interpretation.
A major innovation will suddenly be non-linearity. It is not yet very clear how big a place this role-playing element will take, but we will certainly have the opportunity to choose between stealth passage and frontal assault, as well as some variations in dialogues and tools. The game will probably offer several important decisions that will radically change the ending of the adventure.
Zombie mode
The zombie mode is also returning. This time, the developers decided to continue the storyline of Dark Aether. The fights will be divided into rounds, and at least initially, they promise two maps: Liberty Falls and Terminus. The first is imbued with the atmosphere of the American outback of the 90s, while the second will be a multi-level prison island.
Technical changes
We also expect changes technically. The damage system has been redesigned. Previously, models of fighters had 4 areas on the body, when you stepped into them, you saw this or that animation. Now there will be 9 reacting places and the fighters will behave much more diversely. This should add some liveliness to the proceedings.
In addition, players finally get the ability to customize the HUD, that is, the location of the interface on the screen. You can adjust the placement of the minimap and other settings to suit your playstyle and not obstruct your view.
Fans of screenshots should be pleased. The developers said that they will focus on creating their own, completely new variants of weapons and will not transfer known screenshots from previous parts.
