An unexpected and interesting guest arrived at our editorial office – the Infinix Hot 12 Play NFC smartphone in bright blue-green color with an impressive 6000 mAh battery (and Power Marathon technology also extends the battery life when the charge is low ). This budget segment device attracted us not only with an unusually large battery, but also with a number of other features, which we will discuss in our review.

You may have never heard of Infinix. However, the company has been around since 2013 and is a leader in the African, Pakistani and Indian markets. The brand entered our market a year ago and according to official information, today it is the fastest growing company in the smartphone niche in Russia. Infinix Hot 12 Play NFC is a great example of why you should pay attention to smartphones of this brand.
Consider for yourself: for a relatively low price, the device offers NFC support (payment with a smartphone), a bright and quite stylish back panel, a large display, Type-C connectors and a classic 3.5 mm headset jack, support for two SIM cards and MicroSD.

Design and Features
The Infinix Hot 12 Play NFC offers a 6.82-inch display with support for both 60Hz and 90Hz modes. In our opinion, games run pretty smoothly in either mode, so using a higher refresh rate doesn’t make much sense.

The screen resolution is HD+ (720×1612 pixels). Probably not the most optimal with such a wide screen, but it won’t make you want to chase pixels and extra detail – it can’t be called particularly soapy. Colors appear slightly bluish, with internal color settings limited to eye protection mode with no white balance control. Also, while watching videos or movies, you sometimes want to increase the brightness, which is already set to maximum.

The Infinix Hot 12 Play NFC is powered by an octa-core Unisoc T610 processor with an operating frequency of 1800MHz. RAM – 4 GB with the possibility of virtual expansion up to 7 GB. The device itself uses its own shell of the XOS operating system based on Android 11. The shell may seem cumbersome at first glance, but in fact it turns out to be quite easy to use: widgets and applications are intelligently grouped and the split panels for quick settings and notifications are divided into two. More than ever, the game mode comes in handy, increasing the frequency of the processor.
On the right side of the device are volume and power buttons and on the left side there is a slot for two SIM cards and a memory card at the same time. That is, the built-in memory of 64 GB is expandable without sacrificing a SIM card.
There are no connections on the top of the smartphone, but on the bottom are USB Type-C, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a built-in speaker with DTS technology.

With its help, the effect of surround sound is achieved, but calling a single speaker loud or really powerful will not work. Although the shots in archers or, for example, the running of opponents are clearly distinguishable through the foliage.

Camera
The front camera is placed in a circular cutout in the center of the screen and the resolution is 8 megapixels. There are two modules on the plastic back: the main module with 13 megapixels and another with 2 megapixels. There you will also see a module for the AI Camera mode, which helps the smartphone analyze and refine photos.
There are already four diodes for flash and backlight. The manufacturer exaggerated a bit with brightness, but compensated for the need for light for the built-in camera. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back panel – it is not on the side buttons.
And while the AI mode almost perfectly determines exactly what you’re shooting – the sky, flowers, or say trees – this helps the camera itself to some extent. Photos are worthy in sunlight, at dusk or at night – downright unsatisfactory. The smartphone records video in 1080p resolution, and there’s nothing to praise for the camera here – the videos are dull and blurry.

Performance. Synthetic Testing
We tested the performance of Infinix Hot 12 Play NFC in AnTuTu, Androbench and CPU Throttling Test. The results are in the screenshots. All tests were performed at default settings.
And although our device is called “hot” (Hot), the smartphone actually almost does not heat up. After two hours of play and a throttling test, you can still comfortably hold it in your hands.
Performance. Game Tests
In Infinix Hot 12 Play games NFC proved to be worth it – with medium and somewhere even high settings you can achieve a stable frame rate in optimized popular projects.
Yes, the fiercest battles with a lot of frame detail are too tough for a smartphone and you can encounter draws of up to 20-30 frames per second. But if you’re not chasing high settings, it can be avoided by setting medium settings and getting the coveted 60 frames per second.

Results and prices
The Infinix Hot 12 Play NFC falls into everyone’s favorite “top for the money” category. With this smartphone, you can enjoy smooth gaming on medium settings. Among the advantages is a fairly acceptable screen and sound, good design and an impressive battery.

You can berate the device for not the best camera and a somewhat meager supply – a silicone case and a high-speed charger would be a great application. Still, I would like to charge such a voluminous battery faster.

In summary, Infinix Hot 12 Play NFC can be advised to those who are not looking for the latest trends, but are looking for a “workhorse” and at the same time a gaming smartphone, and are not willing to pay too much for extra tinsel.
