Typically, laptops, smartphones and, less commonly, monitors and computer peripherals are sent to our editorial staff for review. But this time there is a special case: a vacuum cleaner! True, there is no lack of technology and even futurism, because the device is packed with electronics and can talk. But how to deal with the most important thing – cleaning floors and carpets? We haven’t removed a single stain from laminate floors with Dreame H12S, and now we’re ready to talk about its capabilities.

Review of the Dreame H12S cordless washing vacuum cleaner. What? Yes!

What does Dreame dream about?

It is possible that this is the first time you are hearing about the Dreame brand; it has recently been introduced to the Russian market. However, the Chinese company Dreame Technology has been around for 9 years, during which it has specialized in making household appliances using astrodynamic technology.

H12S is a new product on the Russian market in the company’s line of cordless washing vacuum cleaners. One of the main features of the model is the “washing” feature: the device does not have a standard bag for collecting dirt and dust, which must be shaken out after cleaning. Instead, two spacious water tanks are used: a rear of 900 ml for clean water and a front of 700 ml for used water.

The essence of the work is that clean water wets the roller brush, thereby washing the coating. And the suction hole sucks up all the fine dirt and spilled liquids. Conventional: If you accidentally throw a cup of coffee on the laminate floor in the morning, you don’t have to crawl on your knees with a cloth and clean up the mess with your hands. The H12S can successfully handle both spilled coffee grounds and a puddle on the floor. The vacuum cleaner removes the stain with a clean soap solution and collects all coffee drops in the waste water tank.

The design of the stock mounts is simple. Simply press the lever and pull the tank towards you, releasing it from the vacuum cleaner stand. Water is poured directly from the tap. But it is worth considering that the hole is not too wide, so you need to aim so as not to spill anything. Add 10 ml of liquid detergent to clean water for more effective cleaning. For the first time, the vacuum cleaner comes with a bottle of special chemicals. But it won’t last long, so later you will have to choose an option for yourself and your tasks.

After cleaning is completed, you need to detach the front tank and drain the gray water. Otherwise, it will stagnate and an unpleasant odor will appear, and the inside of the plastic wall of the bottle will become covered with a slimy layer. If you are not used to emptying the dust container of your regular vacuum cleaner every time after cleaning, a similar ritual will have to become a habit with the H12S. However, we recommend emptying the unused fluid from the tank, especially if you have hard water in your home.

There is also a dry cleaning function available. There is also a ‘Turbo’ mode for particularly stubborn dirt. The voice assistant will tell you when to switch to it. The most important thing is to understand the Chinese accent. There is a feeling that the module is unscrewed from cheap toys.

This is the basics!

The second feature of the Dreame H12S is that it is wireless. This gives freedom of movement in the room, especially considering the “verticality” of the vacuum cleaner. No power cords get tangled under your feet, just like you don’t have to drag the housing with the motor around and kick it in annoyance every now and then.

And yet it is worth emphasizing that the H12S is quite heavy, while other “stand-ups” are many times lighter. Additionally, water tanks add weight. Dreame’s engineers took this circumstance into account by adding a partial self-propelled function – you tilt the vacuum cleaner towards you (the roller should not be more than 140 °, otherwise water will begin to spill from the flasks), and the device rushes forward quickly. All that remains is to maneuver the brush and adjust the direction of movement. It is similar to operating a riding lawn mower or snow blower.

The frameless design of the roller brush block helps you get close to the wall or skirting board (the manufacturer claims a distance of no more than 6mm)

The charge of the built-in non-removable battery lasts about 35 minutes for the vacuum cleaner in normal mode, a little less in “Turbo” mode. Is this enough to clean the whole house? It’s all individual, but for some the H12S is unlikely to be the only vacuum cleaner in the household or a replacement for a regular corded vacuum cleaner. In this case, it takes 4 hours to fully charge the battery.

The round (non-touch) LED display shows useful data: the current suction mode, the water level in the tanks, warnings about internal clogging, abnormal brush clogging, the battery charge percentage and the severity of the contamination. For example, the H12S is equipped with a sensor that regulates the suction power. If the stain from your morning coffee cannot be washed off the first time, the vacuum cleaner will understand this and temporarily switch to turbo mode, and a red or orange ring will glow on the display. When the spot is defeated, Dreame returns to normal mode so as not to waste charge, and the screen displays a green ring.

The roller brush is easy to replace: first you need to remove the “visor” by pressing two buttons on it, and then pull out the brush itself by pressing the side handle

The device is charged using a special base, which is included in the kit. It is also necessary for washing and drying the roller brush, and the vacuum cleaner is stored on it between cleanings. Special storage cups for a replaceable air filter, a spare roller brush and a brush for cleaning the waste water bottle are also placed here. But the most interesting thing is the automatic self-cleaning. It doesn’t last long, but it looks spectacular: water flows from one bottle to another and passes through a roller brush – everything bubbles, hisses and almost gives off sparks. Before the process, the most important thing is to add clean water if it is running low during cleaning. It is also advisable to ensure that the battery has at least 20% charge. Otherwise the vacuum cleaner will refuse to wash itself.

The story doesn’t end there: the last step before storing the vacuum cleaner is to dry the roller brush. This process takes an hour, during which the device whines annoyingly and supplies warm air at 55 degrees to the brush (to prevent unpleasant odors and mold). During the tests we never waited for the process to be completely completed – after the 15th minute the buzzing starts to get boring. It is easier to remove the brush and dry it naturally. Generally a feature for most patients.

Dreame H12S is technologically advanced and overly ‘smart’ in places. It can be a useful addition to a standard vacuum cleaner that does not have a wet cleaning function. Quickly cleaning something, washing, removing a puddle – this is the fate of the H12S. But for a full Sunday cleaning, you’ll probably arm yourself with a vacuum cleaner that can’t talk.

KRASIVO. Dreame H12S looks stylish. I don’t even want to put it in the pantry. Instead, there is a desire to place a vacuum cleaner in the room as a decorative element.

Faster than lightning. Immediately removing the vacuum cleaner from the base and quickly cleaning up local contamination is the purpose of the H12S.
