The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has handed down the first sentence in Russia in the case of cybercrime in the game industry. Defendant Andrei Kolmakov, who created illegal programs to gain a game advantage in World of Tanks and World of Warships, gets 2.5 years of freedom restriction.
According to researchers, Kirsanov wrote a program for the game World of Tanks in 2014 that enabled automatic aiming. He published the program in the public domain and then created the Ciber Tank website, through which he began selling such programs. He also wrote similar software for World of Warships.
It is noted that the damage to Wargaming amounted to 670 million rubles. At the same time, the studio itself refused to make any demands on the defendant.
Kirsanov was previously reported to have pleaded guilty. He also said he wrote programs in 2013-2014, so really he shouldn’t be prosecuted because of the statute of limitations. Note that the prosecutor has demanded 1.5 years in prison.🔞 Sasha Gray took a shower live on Twitch
