Game designer and head of Shift Up Hyung-Tae Kim in anticipation of the upcoming release Stellar Blade gave an interview to Famitsu. He explained why there are elements of fetishism in the game, whether there will be a photo mode and what difficulties occurred during development.

According to the game designer, Stellar Blade’s heroine looks very young because “Asians look younger than their age.” When asked exactly how old the main characters are, Hyun-tae Kim replied: “They are older than you can imagine.”

The developer also commented on the advanced physics of Eve’s body:
I think it’s beautiful in itself when people move, but the movement of the costume and the hair with the body is also beautiful… I was very careful with the physical expression of the costume, and the main character’s long hair was the result of that work. By doing this I wanted to emphasize the different swings in the fight.

Hyun-tae Kim noted that it took the studio almost an entire year to develop realistic physics for Eva’s hairstyle.
Sometimes I heard the team ask, “Can we cut her hair?”
When asked why Stellar Blade had such a realistic interaction with water droplets, the game designer said it was “a moment of inspiration for the developer.” He promised that the game will have many similar details.
We also discussed the topic of fetishism in the portrayal of Stellar Blade characters. Hyun-tae Kim admitted that such elements effectively promote the project.
This is cute. Gamers are attracted to something like this when they see it. This is one of the most important elements of the game, isn’t it?

Additionally, according to the head of Shift Up, Stellar Blade will not have a photo mode.
Recently, IGN France criticized Eva’s sexy appearance, calling the game’s married creator “a man who has never seen a woman.” The journalist’s hasty statement caused a minor scandal online.
By the way, we released a detailed review of the recent Stellar Blade demo – looks like we’re really in the mood for a decent soul-ish one.
