Sony will officially skip Gamescom 2022, making it the fifth company not to attend the game show. Wargaming, Nintendo, Activision Blizzard and Take-Two have said the same thing before. The reasons for the refusal are not specified.
The event itself will be held in a hybrid (digital and traditional) form in Germany from August 24 to 28. More than 250 participating companies are expected to attend the event, but only a few have confirmed their attendance so far – Bandai Namco, THQ Nordic and Koch Media. Many companies may simply not be ready to show, as they have not prepared release demos due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But many new trailers were shown at the 2021 event – you can see them here and here.
