Who is Alexey Gerasimov and how did the idea for the Skibidi Toilet show come about?
Alexey has been experimenting with game animations for over 6 years. He posts the results on his YouTube channel called DaFuq!?Boom! (this is not the author’s only channel). Gerasimov’s signature crazy style is palpable even in the very first videos. Some of his videos have millions of views, but there are also drops of up to a few hundred thousand.
The very first Skibidi toilet was a parody of Bryanne from TikToker Paris. The concept is simple: a head pops out of the toilet, makes a face to the cheerful music and then rushes to the screen. This ten-second video quickly went viral and Alexey decided to turn it into a series. So far, 69 episodes have been released. Their opinions range from 20 to 85 million, which means they maintain a stable popularity. Number of subscribers of the DaFuq!?Boom! channel at the time of writing this article is 37.7 million people.
Interest in Skibidi motivated Alexey to put aside all other ideas and start working on new episodes of this show. According to the plot of the series, the Earth is attacked by skibidists, those same heads in the toilets. They are opposed by anthropomorphic creatures who have televisions, cameras and speakers instead of heads. To beat the toilet, just press the button that flushes. But it can be difficult to get there, so rockets, grenades, lasers and other types of weapons are used. The atmosphere of the video is reminiscent of the final levels of Half-Life 2, when the Resistance entered into an open confrontation with the forces of the Alliance. Over time, simple videos gained scale and even some semblance of drama.

However, another cameraman, who is watching what is happening, starts laughing. Why the Skibidi Toilet Series proved to be so popular
Memes or funny videos rarely remain popular over time. However, the Skibidi Toilet series has been watched for almost a year and the viewing figures continue to decline. In our opinion, the secret of the show’s success lies in four factors:
- The madness of what is happening. The author has a good imagination and is not limited by any boundaries, so his mini-plots surprise every time. Viewers are very interested in what he will show in the next episode.
- High-quality production. Despite the use of game models from twenty years ago, you feel the commitment and experience in the work. And some of the sloppiness of the animation is used as an artistic device here.
- Variety of situations. But if Alexey were to repeat himself, the audience would quickly lose interest in his creations. Fortunately, this doesn’t happen: we get to see something new in every episode.
- Hidden meaning. All this madness is not just stupidity, but a well thought out parody. Additionally, fans of the show are looking for the end result and offering their interpretations of what they see on screen. And this only creates interest in the series.
- Music. The song from the very first video was catchy and fits perfectly with each episode.
However, not everyone was charmed by the Skibidi Toilet concept. A resident of Moscow saw his son watching this show and decided to contact the police. According to the man, the series has a bad influence on children, so the authors should be checked for violations of the law and the channel itself should be blocked. The claim was filed on January 11, 2024 and accepted for consideration.
