Rockstar is known for its penchant for recreating locations from real cities in its games. As the first trailer confirmed: Grand Theft Auto 6 awaits us in Vice City. And the prototype is Miami, the largest metropolis in the southern United States, famous for its beaches, skyscrapers and Cuban-Haitian culture. Which real-life locations in Miami did Rockstar use for Vice City in GTA 6? Read the article!

The trailer opens with images of downtown Miami, known as Downtown, from the sea and the highway. A similar view can be found via Google (although we obviously cannot set the camera to the desired height):
From the trailer you can immediately understand how much time the authors spent working with the landscapes of GTA 6. If you study the map of the suburbs of Miami from a bird’s eye view, there will be no questions about why there is so much water, canals , creeks and swamps. In general, herons, hovercrafts and rides up to your ears in mud are all very authentic.
In the next frame we get a close-up of Lucia – one of the two main characters – who is clearly in prison. The prison itself may refer to the ‘Miami mega-prison’, although the state of Florida has quite a few prisons, including in the interior of the state. There are also simply correctional ‘boarding houses’ – it is possible that the full-time psychologist here works with Lucia.
We couldn’t get into such a secure facility, but from the street it looks like this:

The next scene is Palm Beach. A golden beach on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, with palm trees, full of naked sunbathers – the most iconic image of Miami from Hollywood films! And the coastline matches what we saw in the trailer:
And yes, there really are a lot of sunbathing people:
The hotels built on this narrow and fabulously expensive strip of land also correspond to the real ones:
The game world not only copies iconic places, but also carefully reproduces their spirit and reflects the characteristic features of Miami’s architecture and culture. In the Wynwood area in particular, you will find collections of giant murals and restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisines:
While “little Havana” will surprise you with its color:
A huge, towering road stands out throughout the trailer. This is I-95, Florida’s main highway, which starts just south of downtown Miami and runs north along the Atlantic coast to the Georgia state line. If you pay attention to the background behind the man in the center of the image, you will see a huge road. This is it:

Also in a separate frame can be seen the bridge connecting the Florida Keys – the name of the Coral Cay archipelago and one of the main attractions of the state. This means that the islands themselves also:
A close-up of the Bay Harbor Islands, islands of luxury real estate that were still there GTA Vice City:
As for Downtown, this concentration of wealth, luxury and good living is reflected in the trailer:
There are also powerboat races around the Port of Miami; the cargo pier handles millions of tons of cargo per year and is one of the largest in the world. In the background you can see the harbor cranes and the container ship:
The sixth chapter in Grand Theft Auto not only promises exciting adventures, but is also a good example of how the gaming industry is striving for more realistic images. From iconic buildings to local landmarks, every element of Vice City is carefully recreated to create a realistic and engaging gaming experience! GTA 6 will be released in 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series
