Cyberpunk: Edgerunners isn’t the only example of an anime adaptation of a famous game. Cartoons used to be based on Bayonetta and Devil May Cry, and an animated series about Lara Croft was recently announced. We decided to fantasize about this topic and imagine what other beauties from the world of video games would look like if they were drawn by artists from the Land of the Rising Sun.
To create anime-style drawings, we used the Loopsie neural network, which is available on iOS and Android devices. Art and screenshots from games were used as primary sources.
Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat
Let’s start with Sonya Blade, one of the most famous heroines of the series Deadly battle. Animated series based on Mortal Kombat were released back in the 90s, but they were all filmed in the USA and do not belong to the anime genre.
Miranda Lawson from Mass Effect
In 2012, the full-length anime “Mass Effect: Paragon Lost” was released, which is devoted to the adventures of James Vega. However, Miranda, the series’ main sex symbol, was not included. The image we created using neural networks would look great in an anime series based on it Mass effect.
Morrigan from Dragon Age
Based on Dragon Age has had several anime made. For example, “Dawn of the Seeker” tells the story of the fate of Cassandra Pentagast, one of the main heroines of the second and third parts. But in this cartoon we never saw the witch Morrigan from the Wild Lands. We hope so in the future Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will tell us the continuation of his story.
Ash from Overwatch
Before departure Overwatch 2, Blizzard released three short anime dedicated to the first confrontation between humans and omnics, a race of intelligent machines. The writers paid attention to Ana Amari, but Ash was left out of the local story. In our opinion, the decision is controversial, because this charismatic bandit is the most popular heroine of the series in fan culture.
Alyx Vance from Half-Life 2
First and The second half of Half-Life is still one of the best games of all time. However, there is no full-fledged film adaptation of Gordon Freeman’s adventures yet, if you don’t take short fan films into account. Neural networks show us what Alyx Vance would look like in the anime adaptation of Half-Life 2.
Rain from the Bloodrayne duology
It’s worth recognizing that not all films based on video games have been successful. For example, films by Uwe Boll based on the series Bloodrayne is a great example of how a good idea can be ruined. The adventures of the red-haired beauty Rain could become the basis for an excellent action film about vampires in the spirit of Underworld or Blade. But in modern reality, the likelihood of an anime series based on this series appearing is much higher.

Elizabeth from BioShock Infinite
Elizabeth’s big eyes and doll-like appearance create clear associations with the heroines from classic anime. And the behavior of the girl with her constant change of attitude towards the main character is reminiscent of the image of a tsundere (a Japanese term denoting both a hostile and overly friendly attitude towards someone), very popular in Japanese cartoons. A film adaptation is currently being worked on. BioShock. Admittedly, we are not talking about a cartoon, but about a feature film with live actors.
Silent One from Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain
Metal Gear Solid is another series that plans to be transferred to the big screen. Moreover, director George Van Roberts (Jordan Vogt-Roberts) is planning not only a movie, but also an anime series. Whether the Silent One will appear in it is still a big question, as we don’t know exactly when the film’s action will unfold. But it would be a crime on the part of the filmmakers to pass over such a popular heroine.
Jill Valentine from Resident Evil
Unlike Metal Gear Solid and BioShock, the series Resident Evil has already received many film adaptations. Among them there are both projects that are part of the game canon, and films that develop their own plot. We talked about it in more detail in a separate article. And recently, the full CGI cartoon “Resident Evil: Death Island” was released, in which Jill Valentine plays a major role. In our opinion, she would make a great heroine for an anime series about a zombie apocalypse.
Ada Wong from Resident Evil
Ada became extremely popular in fan culture after the release of remakes of the second and fourth games in the Resident Evil series. In addition, the girl appeared in the sixth part, the cartoon “Resident Evil: Damnation” and the film “Resident Evil: Retribution” by Paul WS Anderson. We recommend you watch the anime version of Miss Wong.
Sarah Kerrigan from Starcraft 2
Although a full-fledged in-universe movie We never saw StarCraft; you can find many fan short films based on it on the internet. It is true that their value is almost zero: the authors replay well-known events or tell a story that is in no way related to the main plot. As far as we are concerned, Sarah Kerrigan’s tragic story absolutely deserves a full-fledged film adaptation.
Jaina Proudmoore from World of Warcraft
In series 2016 Warcraft received an official film based on it. Journalists were divided in their opinions – some publications criticized, while others found strong points in this film. Unfortunately, due to unconvincing box office returns, work on a sequel never began. As for Jaina Proudmoore, outside of the games she only appeared in a five-minute short from the Warbringers series.
Bloodborne doll
Many film adaptations of Sony games have been released recently. Amongst them Not mapped The last of us, Gran Turismo en Twisted Metal, and in the near future there will be TV series based on it God of war and Horizon zero dawn. Maybe in the future we will see a movie or cartoon related to Bloodborne, which is still exclusive to PlayStation 4. And neural networks can already show what the doll would look like in the anime adaptation of the FromSoftware game.
Triss from the third “The Witcher”
The official cartoon “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf” tells about the adventures of young Vesemir and young Geralt. But Triss and Yennefer did not appear there, because at the time of this story they did not yet know our hero. We recommend that you check out the red-haired sorceress in anime style.
Yennefer from the third “The Witcher”
Fans of the game “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) people are still arguing about who is more suitable for Geralt: Triss or Yennefer. Therefore, we cannot ignore the black-haired beauty glorified by Andrzej Sapkowski. As the heroine of the anime series, she looks surprisingly cute.
