Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t come out in the best possible way to say the least, but over time the developers managed to fix most of the issues. CD Projekt Vice President of Public Relations Michal Platkow-Gilewski spoke in an interview with GamesIndustry about the game’s launch and what to expect from the studio going forward.
Platkov-Gilevsky called the time before the Cyberpunk 2077 hype the best of his life. The hype put more pressure on the studio after the release of “the fairy tale is over“.
I was dissatisfied with how things went. I didn’t expect this, but I immediately realized that we have to give back the confidence of the players. I loved the place we were, and I’m talking about the time before all the hype. We had our audience, we liked it, they liked us, and CD Projekt RED was a great place to work.
The top manager emphasized that CDPR is very keen to regain the trust of the players. The upcoming add-on should help with this.
The time after release was tough, but I knew those people were still there. They’re still the same gamers… we just need to fix our relationship. The only thing in our power is just to show what we are capable of. I have a feeling it will happen soon. I hope this will be a new beginning for all of us.

At the same time, Platkov-Gilevsky spoke about the importance of the addition, which Idris Elba worked on in particular.
Supplements are very important to us. Many years ago we started thinking about what DLC is. Why would anyone charge a few bucks for a DLC that only gives you something very small like a special sword or horse armor? We don’t like this approach. That’s why we release free DLCs because they don’t require much effort, as well as bigger expansions that come with a price.
As far as we are concerned, the expansion may be great. The base game has Keanu Reeves, so we needed another actor. With this we show that this is not a small side mission, but a large piece of content that we care about.
