The Portal game is more than ten years old, but for many it is still interesting. And because enthusiasts try in every possible way to improve it. For example, an independent group is preparing a Portal: Origins mod, which transfers the original Portal to the second part’s engine.
The mod’s authors state that the main goal is to “keep the gameplay and atmosphere of Portal 1 and bring it over to Portal 2 to add some interesting stuff.” The bottom line is that technically both games use Source, but Portal 2’s engine has seen significant improvements in the four years between releases. Improved physics, lighting, sound and more appeared. In addition to porting Portal to the new engine, this mod adds co-op to the first part of the game.
Work started at the end of 2020, the release is expected at the end of this year. Nopok, the authors do not publish playable developments.
And another fan is developing Portal for the Nintendo 64. Russian twitch streamer and blogger Nekoglai had a serious accident
