Barbarian inside Diablo 4 is a melee warrior notable for its high health pool, weapon variability, and lack of mana. It’s not the easiest character to learn, but that doesn’t mean the class isn’t playable. In this guide, we will talk about barbaric builds, skills and pumps that will help you complete the game.
Diablo 4 guides
What are the characteristics of the class “Barbarian”
This class excels at taking out large groups of enemies in close combat. Barbarians deal physical damage, apply the “bleed” effect, and use their abilities to control enemies. Due to their high health reserves, they are an integral part of the team, deflecting and holding back the endless onslaught of demons. Instead of mana, this character uses rage, which means the longer you are in battle, the stronger you become. This class is suitable for players who prefer big two-handed swords, axes and always be in the center of battle.

Parameters to improve:
- power – to increase damage from skills and increase the “Armor” parameter;
- Maneuverability – to increase the chance of a critical hit and the chance of successful evasion;
- Willpower – to generate rage, increase healing and damage.
What special abilities does the barbarian have
Each character has its own unique skills. The barbarian has 2:
- Step off – the barbarian jumps off his mount and deals damage in a small area around him;
- Weapon mastery – Provides access to the character’s arsenal. You can choose the type of weapon and get a unique bonus for it. Profit depends on the experience of using the selected weapon. The more enemies killed with it, the more powerful the effect will be.
General tips for leveling
The recommended world level for development is 1 (Adventurer). This ensures the smoothest and fastest pumping process. If you want to test yourself, you can play World Tier 2 (Veteran), but the 20% bonus XP from monsters doesn’t make up for the time it takes to kill them. To unlock the most dungeons and world level 3 you need to complete the main story.

Also don’t forget to get a mount. We have a separate manual for this.
Another gems worth mentioning that you will put in your loadout:
- In the arms — sapphire, for dealing extra damage to enemies in control;
- In armor – sapphire, to reduce incoming damage;
- For decoration – skull, to increase the armor.
Build a barbarian through the “Whirlwind”
One of the simplest and most popular skills is Whirlwind. It gives you an AoE attack, allows you to apply lots of stacks of bleeds, move faster than usual and just looks great. in skill “Weapon Mastery” it is better to choose a sword with two hands to inflict more bleeds per second. In addition, there will be an additional buff – +x% (20% at Mastery Level 10) of the damage you deal is dealt as Bleed damage for 5 seconds. Mastery Level 10 Bonus: Deal 30% more bleed damage for 5 seconds after killing an enemy.

How to behave in combat with selected skills
Except “Whirlwind” you will use other skills:
- “Slash” – used to inflict bleeds on a group of enemies. Usually needed at the start of a battle or while other skills cool down;
- “Inspirational call” – Increased movement speed and anger recovery speed. In addition, it applies the Unstoppable effect to the barbarian. Needed to increase protective parameters;
- “Incendiary Scream” – increases survivability and is needed to challenge nearby enemies. Applied for Whirlwind use;
- “war tear” – enters Barbara with a state “Berserk”. Used to reinforce “Whirlwind”;
- “Wrath of the Berserker” – the main powerful ability that introduces the character to the state “Berserk” and greatly increases its attack and defense parameters. Due to the high cooldown, it is recommended not to rush this skill.
Build a barbarian by bleeding
With this build, you can’t kill enemies in one hit, but start winning battles of attrition. The pace of the game will slow down a bit, but it will get easier for you with elite enemies and bosses. In skill “Weapon Mastery” choose a two-handed ax to deal more damage to weakened enemies.

How To Unlock Your Full Potential With Bleeding
- “Shells” – use on cooldown to maintain enemies’ bleeding status. It is especially important when fighting single and strong enemies;
- “Iron grip” – Draws the enemy to the barbarian, increases the duration of the bleeding and deals a lot of damage. Do not use if the rage bar is less than 50% full;
- “Sharp Wounds” – the main skill for dealing damage, which must be used constantly;
- “Hole” – activate when “Maulment” to recover;
- “Call of the Ancients” – the ability is useful when fighting bosses, as the summoned Ancients attack a single target without being distracted by others;
- “Inspirational Scream” – a defensive skill that will help you survive in difficult situations.
