“Fast and Furious 10” (Fast X) has a special meaning for the series. This is the first part of the grand finale, where all the main storylines should finally come to an end. Despite all the hype, the film performs much worse at the box office than the previous parts. We visited the premiere and are ready to disassemble the new picture into cogs. Is it worth watching the next chapter of the Toretto clan’s adventures, or is it high time to get to the finish line in this never-ending race? Let’s figure it out now.
Mind-blowing tricks…again
The Fast and the Furious series cannot boast of a strong plot or deep characters. But she has car stunts that get crazier with every part. Unfortunately, the tenth film is unlikely to surprise. After flying into space in the previous photo, the creators had to show something unusual. All action scenes, unfortunately, look qualitative, but the roof is not blown away with enthusiasm.
Of course, the creators have several large-scale clashes in store, but you won’t notice anything unusual about that. Games with gravity and unkillable cars don’t even try to explain it anymore, it’s just a convention that needs to be accepted.
In a way, Fast and Furious 10 is a return to the origins of the series, as the Fast and the Furious actually spend most of the movie behind the wheel, rather than going through the multi-step operations of Mission: Impossible. However, the fact remains that the concept of a fun attraction worth seeing for an incredible show is starting to become obsolete. Jokes that there should be a time machine in the finale or dinosaurs didn’t get off the ground. The writers had to work hard to get even close to the level of insanity that was in the ninth film. Unfortunately, in “Fast and the Furious 10” they did not succeed.
Good old cardboard characters
The Toretto family is growing by leaps and bounds. Dominic’s number of allies increases with each film and even dead characters manage to come back to life. However, the situation with the death of Paul Walker (Paul Walker), who died in 2013 as a result of a car accident, is still in limbo. For several parts, Brian flashes somewhere behind the scenes and does not participate in the general movement. Meanwhile, the level of modern technology allows you to make the face of the deceased actor on the computer as realistic as possible. Even the usual apps on your phone do a pretty good job, let alone a movie with a multi-million dollar budget.
Brian’s absence is perhaps the most tangible minus, as he should theoretically play one of the main roles in the new plot. Everything else is standard. The characters stick to their archetypes, formed many parts ago, and develop absolutely in no way. Is it worth scolding the next “Fast and the Furious” for such a thing? It all depends on your attitude to the series. If you didn’t like the heroes’ approach before, you’ll be left disappointed this time.
As usual, there are plenty of new faces, but they seem absolutely unnecessary. The film really does not have time to pay attention to all the main characters, and the screenwriters are forced to be distracted by new ones. Two girls – Tess performed by Brie Larson (Brie Larson) and Isabel, who was embodied by Daniela Melshior (Daniela Melchior), appear very suddenly and are needed only to move the plot to places where the creators simply did not come up with another understandable story explanation.
Do you want Fast & Furious to finally stop?
“Incredible” plot
History has never been a strong point of the Fast and the Furious. Nothing has changed in this section. For half of the movie, we listen to traditional pathos speeches about the family, and it’s only towards the end that what happens begins to gain momentum.
The finale turned out crumpled and strange, because the creators have repeatedly shown that the death of heroes is not a problem for them. Members of the Toretto family come to life more often than cartoon characters. Knowing this will not get you the amount of drama you want.
This time Dominic will have to answer for one of his actions in previous films, so the conflict with the son of the former villain who suddenly appeared is too tense. Although the creators try to explain that Dante – the new antagonist – was just preparing a revenge plan all this time, too much time has passed.
But the film really feels like the first act of a grand finale. Perhaps the heroes faced a truly dangerous enemy for the first time. The basic idea that it is impossible to save everyone sounds intriguing. If the writers have the courage, we get a dramatic and very emotional ending.
Other movie and series reviews for gamers
Dear villain
The indisputable plus of the tenth part was the villain Dante, whose role was played by Jason Momoa. Contrary to expectations, we did not get another testosterone confrontation. Suddenly, Dante is the Joker from the world of Fast & Furious, and one DC should learn from. Trailers skillfully hid the main feature of the antagonist. He is absolutely insane and isn’t shy about showing it off. The main goal is chaos and suffering. Even when Dominik has the upper hand, he remains involved in the game and remains extremely predictable.
Momoa has developed acting talent over the course of his career and, like Jason Statham (Jason Statham), is not afraid of self-mockery. Seeing the most dangerous psychopath with two tufts of hair and in a bathrobe doing manicures is a separate show that you certainly don’t expect from Fast and the Furious. Against the background of the villain’s performance, the rest of the characters look faded, especially Dominic himself loses, who continues to repeat the phrases he learned and is practically unable to resist the cunning Dante.
It is clear that the antagonist will be defeated in the 11th part, which will be the finale of a great story, but in a century it will be interesting to follow the process. The tape leaves a good basis for a sequel, which you even want to wait for.
“Furious 10” is much weaker than the previous parts. The schemes familiar to the creators are slowly but surely becoming obsolete, and even in its genre of movie attractions, the new Toretto race looks average. If you turn off the brain completely, you still risk getting bored. It’s not worth rushing to the cinema; unexpectedly, Fast and Furious 10 is better suited for viewing at home.
At the same time, the film has an excellent villain, who is perhaps the only one who can captivate the audience and make them watch to the end. Jason Momoa proved once again that an incredibly talented actor who, even in an action movie as simple as a steering wheel, can do a little more than is expected of him. It is clear that Dante still has enough for the last part, but it is better not to hurry with Vin Diesel’s ideas about the 12th picture.
