Studio Santa Monica has posted a new curious job opening on its website, which may indicate the beginning of the development of a new part of God of War.

It seems that the authors of God of War: Ragnarok have started work on a sequel

although God of War Ragnarok did not win the Game of the Year 2022 award, the project became a hit. It was praised for its rich storytelling, interesting characters and thrilling combat. More about this in our review.

Now it appears that Santa Monica wants to quickly build on that success and has started hiring new employees. A recent job posting indicates that the studio is in need of a specialist for the position of senior combat system designer for companions. He will work closely with the main character designer, design director and game director. A new combat system specialist must also have “knowledge God of War (2018), God of War Ragnarok and being able to talk in detail about combat systems, mechanics and enemies.”

This wording may indicate that the history of God of War is far from over and we are waiting for the sequel. We can confidently say it won’t be out any time soon, as the art director of the last two installments has left the studio. Therefore, before beginning development of the continuation, Santa Monica must fill important vacancies.

The studio is also currently working on an unannounced new universe project, which is being produced by God of War (2018) game director Cory Barlog.
