Russian independent studio Horns and Hoovers Studio have announced a third-person sci-fi survival horror game Vicious Red. The founder of the company and part-time YouTuber nicknamed PoleznyiBes has published a video of the project.
According to the author, the video contains “some developments” and concept art. In the comments on the video, the project is already called a mix dead space and Atomic heart.
The main action takes place in an alternate universe from the recent past on a Soviet space station, which is cloaked in a terrible virus. Lore will be pseudoscientific. Many things are based on the achievements of science in the USSR.
The main character is described as “a white heterosexual man in his 40s who in turn is a skilled hard worker who got into a tough game”.
One of the chips is called enemies, whose death will not be final (after a while, the killed opponents can reappear and attack the character). The main task is to take the player out of his usual comfort zone. So gamers will “Hurry Up and Make Mistakes”.
In battle, the hero can use both homemade weapons and classic weapons, most of which are divided into two categories. They operate from two different key sources (when they decrease, the lethality of the weapon decreases).
“The game combines a scary and tense atmosphere, innovative gameplay and the unique style of old-school horror survival games, allowing players to enjoy the traditional gameplay, as well as new technologies and game challenges”says the description.
The game engine is Unreal Engine 5.1 with all available paid features. More than 30 people are currently working on the project. There are no sponsors yet.
Vicious Red is now available on wishlist on Steam. In the future, the developers plan to release a free demo, which is a prequel to the main story.
