For the release of the long-awaited zombie action Dead Island 2 is only a few days away, but several videos have already surfaced online comparing images across all supported platforms.
The first video showed how the graphics differ on PC (with maximum graphics settings), PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The video compared resolution, animations, shadows, FPS, character spacing, textures, loading times, model quality, particles, reflections and lighting.

These are the conclusions the author came to:
- All versions for the consoles presented have a single display mode;
- The Xbox Series S version does not include dynamic shadows produced by lights such as a flashlight and has lower resolution textures than other versions;
- The PC version shows slight improvements in the general settings, but all versions support a very good level of graphics;
- Dead Island 2 does not use ray tracing. However, due to the lack of a real-time day/night cycle, a high level of built-in global illumination was achieved (especially indoors);
- The reflections don’t look very good. Some use low-resolution maps;
- PC version does not contain DLSS, only FSR;
- Dead Island 2 is one of the most optimized games ever developed with Unreal Engine 4.

The second video compared Dead Island 2 on Xbox One S (900p and 30 FPS), Xbox One X (1440p and 30 FPS), Xbox Series S (1080p and 60 FPS), and Xbox Series X (1800p and 60 FPS).

Most notable were the downloads. For example, on Xbox One they can last more than a minute, while on Xbox Series X/S they last 11-12 seconds. In terms of frame rate, previous generation console versions run at 30 FPS. On modern consoles, the game shows 60 FPS.

The third video shows the PS4 (1080p and 30 FPS), PS4 Pro (1440p and 30 FPS), and PS5 (1800p and 60 FPS) versions.

Loading times on each of the consoles presented:
- PS4 – 1 minute and 23 seconds;
- PS4 Pro – 1 minute and 13 seconds;
- PS5 – 8 seconds.
And here’s how the textures differ in the game depending on the platform:
