Background: Players started insulting the girl who voiced Ada Wong in the Resident Evil 4 remake
As you know, Ada Wong’s voice acting in the remake Resident Evil 4 was hosted by actress Lily Gao. We recently reported on how the girl came under a wave of criticism from some fans. Actor Nick Apostolides, who voiced Leon, recently shared his thoughts on this situation.

He called all the critics of the actress “Twitter trolls”, which caused Lili Gao to receive stormy criticism, as a result of which she even decided to delete her Instagram page (recognized as an extremist organization in Russia).
In many reports, critics have accused Lily Gao of deliberately downplaying Ada Wong’s sexuality compared to the original. By the way, the heroine in it was voiced by Jolene Andersen.
Nick Apostolides, who also voiced Leon in the remake Resident Evil 2, said he offered his words of encouragement to Lily Gao and told her that he also received criticism from fans when he first debuted in the franchise.
When Resident Evil 2 came out, it happened right away. Some people liked the voice, but a lot of people were attached to other actors who have voiced Leon before, so they didn’t fully accept me. But the negative was combined with positive reactions. I told her not to take it personally. Every time you take on the role of a favorite character, people will have their own opinion. When people are unhappy, it will be the loudest voices.

Nick Apostolides added that women and members of the LGBT community are most often criticized, not white heterosexual men.
Recall that Lily Gao not only voiced Ada Wong in the Resident Evil 4 remake, but also played her in the 2021 series Resident Evil: Raccoon City (our review).
