At the GDC 2023 (Game Developers Conference), NVIDIA showed how path tracing technology and artificial intelligence can bring ultra-realistic graphics to games.
The company noted that developers are getting new tools this week to not only speed up the process of creating an in-game world, but also optimize real-time path tracing. You can download the new SDK here.
The video also showed the benefits of the new version of DLSS 3 technology, which provides significantly improved visual effects, as well as increased responsiveness and frame rate.
In the second video, NVIDIA focused on Cyberpunk 2077. The authors demonstrated how they optimized path tracing, used the Nsight Graphics tool and achieved photorealistic graphics.
“In this demo you can see how the NVIDIA Nsight Graphics tool was used to optimize path tracing in Cyberpunk 2077 by identifying and fixing shader inefficiencies. The introduction of Shader Execution Reordering (SER) has significantly improved the efficiency of path tracing.”says the description of the video.
According to NVIDIA, the updated path tracing technology mimics in great detail the physics of all the lights in a scene to reproduce what the eye sees in real life.
In addition, the company has published comparative images showing how its technology can solve the object translucency problem.
GDC 2023 runs until March 24. It should present an exclusive look STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl.
