Strategy recently entered early access Dune: Spice Wars, in which you can control one of four factions, conquer settlements and develop your empire. Despite the game manual, many players have questions about the construction of some buildings. In this guide, we’ll explain how to build refineries and refineries, what they offer, and when is the best time to start building these facilities.
How to build a refinery?
The Refinery is one of the most important buildings in the game that allows you to extract spices and process them into the official currency of the Empire. In addition, spices will be useful to you for paying taxes, which are instituted by the empire. The tax is the main requirement for your presence on Arrakis.
To build a refinery, you must first explore the area around your base. For this, special aircraft “ornithopters” are used. One scout drone will be available from the start of the game, but we recommend making multiple ornithopters. Select them and click on “Auto Exploration”. Drones will automatically explore the nearest points of interest, saving you time.
You have to wait for one of the drones to find the location “herb field” It is indicated by a purple icon on the map.
Now make an infantry and some ranged units. Their names depend on which faction you play for. Three squads are enough to capture the settlement, on the territory of which the spice field is located.
During the fight, keep an eye out for the exclamation mark icon above your fighters. In this case, they should be moved away from where they are located. The fact is that sandworms are attracted to the sounds of battles, which can attack and kill the fighters.
If a settlement is occupied, you can loot or conquer it. Select a settlement and click the flag icon. After that, you can go to the “Buildings” section and select “Refinery”.
Quickly extract herbs and manage a refinery?
Wait for the construction to be completed and select a harvester that will work on the spice field. This heavy machine creates a strong vibration when mining the mineral, which also attracts sandworms. If a worm appears nearby, an exclamation mark will appear above the harvester. In this case, you need to select a technique and click “Review”. If you don’t have time to do this, the worm will devour the car.
You also have the right to activate automatic equipment recall. This reduces the total amount of herbs harvested, but you don’t have to worry about destroying your harvester.
Now you have to choose how to handle the herbs. You have the right to store them, exchange them for other competitor resources or exchange them for cash (solari) at the current COOAM rate. The latter happens automatically. The control panel is configured in the top left corner of the screen. To do this, move the slider up or down.
There is also a window with information about the Imperial Tax, which you have to pay within a certain period of time. It is worth noting that the load will increase, so it is in your best interest to capture as many fields as possible and install refineries to extract this resource.
How to build a processing plant. Getting money quickly (solari)
In the refinery you can win rare components that are automatically exchanged for money (solari). To install such an installation, a number of conditions must be met:
- You need to find a location with rare components (yellow icon on the map).
- Settle a settlement with deposits of rare components.
- Learn skill “Warehouse System” In chapter “Developments”
You can follow the first and second point following the instructions we described in the previous section. To learn the Warehouse System skill, open the Development menu (T) and unlock the Compound Materials skill. Right after that, you can learn the Warehouse System skill and build the first processing plant.
Depending on the deposits of rare materials, you will receive from 30 units of solari per day.
