an important role in its popularity Atomic Heart played the game’s soundtrack. Well-chosen songs in the trailers got the whole internet buzzing. And the excellent musical accompaniment in the game itself, as well as interesting gameplay solutions, perfectly complemented the atmosphere of the project. And Atomic Heart managed to cross the boundaries of the gaming community, thanks in large part to “virusized” songs like the Komarovo remix. In this article we have collected all the information about music in Atomic Heart.

Funk and rock versions of popular songs “of that time”, as well as their various remixes – one can hardly find the best option for an alternative, dystopian version of the USSR. By the way, the authors quite deliberately approached such a careful selection of the soundtrack, as they once wrote in the Discord channel:

We have a team of real audiophiles, we believe the music makes up 50% of the scene, so you almost always hear something in the background. For Atomic Heart, we searched through a thousand songs from the 50s-80s and selected the best works from those years that convey the positive, cheerful mood of the Soviet Union. You can hear all this from the speakers, on the radio and during important cutscenes.

Initially, the developers shocked the audience by using the song of the Mirage group – “Music connected us” in their trailer. Some players approved the choice, another called the selected number not too suitable for what is happening on the screen, the scandal caused by copyright infringement even more agitated the information field. Judging by the fact that the trailer is still up on the game’s channel, Mundfish managed to defend the license.

The release of the new trailer, which demonstrates the combat system, caused quite a stir. It contained a remix of Alla Pugacheva’s song Starry Summer, which, by the way, can often be heard in the release version of the game, in the open world.

At the time, many thought that Mick Gordon was working on the remix. This composer’s name added a few more hype points to the outgoing project. But no – Gordon wrote several songs that sound in the open world and during the battle with the bosses, and the author of the “Starry Summer” remix is called GeoffPlaysGuitar. This YouTuber is just famous for publishing rock covers of the soundtracks of various games on his channel, which sound like an OST for Doom (2016).
