How armor works in Sons of the Forest
We already talked about armor in one of the guides. Unlike other games, armor in Sons of the Forest will not completely prevent damage, and after a few hits it will completely collapse. But at the same time, his presence will help save your character’s life more than once.
The armor indicator is next to the hero’s vitality indicator. Each created element adds one strip. In total, you have the right to equip ten elements of various armor. The stronger the armor, the fewer streaks disappear during enemy attacks.
But what is the best armor? There is a clear answer to this question – “Techno Armor”. You can make it on a 3D printer with a special resin. You will often encounter such a resource when exploring story bunkers, as well as in makeshift camps and caches. We talked about it in more detail below.
Blade armor
Leaf armor is the most primitive defense in the game. It is not profitable to make such armor for several reasons. Firstly, it weakly protects against attacks, and secondly, it requires textilewhich isn’t easy to find, and it’s also useful for crafting more useful items.

A normal cannibal attack destroys three cells of leaf armor and a strong attack destroys five to six cells.
Where a lot of dust can be found
Rags, while a valuable resource, are scattered almost everywhere. You can find them:
- In the camps of the natives;
- cached;
- in caves;
- in bunkers.
Hide armor
The next most durable armor that can also be made with cloth. First you need to find two large animals – deer or moose, kill and slaughter their carcasses. For each animal you receive a piece of skin.

A normal battle from a native costs 2 armor cells and a strong one costs 3.
How to get lots of skins
Initially, we recommend making a homemade bow and two spears. Hunting deer with a bow will be quite unusual, as there is no scope in the game and the arrow itself does not fly far – you will often miss.
Running after a deer is also a bad idea. Instead, find the animal and throw a spear at it. If you hit, the beast will start to run away, but will soon die from loss of blood. You just need to guide the deer to the place of its death and then skin the carcass.
A little later you will find a target with which you can sharpen your archery skills.
bone armor
Bone armor is another good option to protect yourself from natives and monsters. In addition to being strong enough, it is very easy to make. To do this, you will need bones, twine and electrical tape.

Unlike the sets described above, the bot protection withstands several normal hits from enemies without breaking, then destroys one cell for each hit.
How to get many bones
It may seem difficult to get bones at first. They can be found in some cannibal camps, as well as when exploring graves and wooden coffins. But you have the right to make the bones yourself.
To do this, you need to kill and dismember several natives. Build a fire and throw limbs into it. Wait for them to burn out completely, after which you can pick up the bones. It is worth noting that in the inventory you can store two human arms and legs.
So, for every native killed, you will receive four bones, which is enough to make one armor cell.
Remark: You can only collect limbs from common natives. You can slaughter large cannibals with golden masks, as well as large red enemies, but you cannot collect any limbs from them.
Spooky armor
The only armor in Sons of the Forest that cannot be crafted. You have the right to get it only from killed monsters, which will first live in caves, and closer to the middle of the passage of the story they will begin to surface.
Sometimes you can see cannibals equipped with similar armor. If you use a firearm, bow or crossbow, we recommend that you do not shoot in protected areas. So you just spend a bolt or cartridge, while just destroying the armor.
technical armor
The last type of armor in the game. The first mention of her can be found in a bunker with a 3D printer and a locked door, which requires an orange key card. On the wall next to the printer hangs a poster depicting this armor.
To create protection, you need a lot of resources, as well as a special techno fabric. The latter can be made on the aforementioned 3D printer. Each raw material requires 250 ml of resin to make.

Where to find printed circuit boards
If you don’t like to experiment and destroy everything around you, you will most likely run into a shortage of circuit boards. But it’s actually quite easy to find them. To do this, smash laptops scattered in bunkers and caves, as well as music players. At least one circuit board will fall out of each of these devices.
How do you find a lot of resin for a 3D printer
Resin for a 3D printer can be found in bunkers, in cannibal camps, in various caches and plastic boxes scattered around the island. But right now, the game allows you to resume looting after the next load from the last save. If you find a resin spawn, collect the item, store it nearby and reload it. The resin will reappear in the same place. It should be understood that the game is under development, so this mechanic may change in the future.
Can the armor be removed?
If you put on multiple armors, you can’t take them off. At least until you progress enough in the story and find the special “Golden Armor”.
