Former developer Dragon Age: Inquisition John Epler uncovered one of the secrets of the game. It is associated with the horses that the main character can ride. As it turns out, the sprint button never increased the animal’s speed – BioWare just created the illusion of speed by adding effects like the rushing wind.
The fake sprint had to be added due to the Frostbite engine, which prevented fast level loading. According to Epler, the studio gave him three days to make the horse sprint look faster. Why it was impossible to remove it just like that, the developer did not say.
Some players still suspected that all was not well with the horses. “I swear to God, John, I knew it. I fucking knew itwrote user @qorquiq. Another gamer commented that another game from the studio had the same problem:Classic “sprint” mass effect“.
John Epler is currently working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf as creative director. The game will be released in late 2023 or early 2024.
