In November, it became known that the Internet Development Institute (IRI) awarded a grant of 100 million rubles for the development of the Teslapunk action game “Trains. The game is developed by Watt Studio. But as the developers themselves said today, they did not receive the money. It turned out that they would not be paid until after the game’s release, so the project was shelved.

At the end of October it was announced that we would not receive any money from the IRI until after we had created and released the game. Yes, some time later we are paid 100 million rubles.
Two months of negotiations, weak concessions from Iran, no interest from outside investors in the project, lack of bank loans under government subsidies. As a result, we had no funding for the game and decided to pause development.
At the same time, the studio initially tried to agree on a phased financing, but this did not please IRI. The developers were offered to look for the money themselves, and full payment was promised only after the game’s release. The deadline is set for November 2024. The studio tried to get a soft loan from the bank, but they did not want to give money under a state grant, which would be paid out in a few years.
Note that there is no talk of a full rejection of the project yet, they plan to come back to it in the future.
