Development manager Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Stig Asmussen revealed some gameplay details to Game Informer.
All screenshots from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor can be viewed here.
Here’s what was revealed:
- Cal has five fighting styles (stances), including a dual lightsaber variant, the ability to wield a blaster and a lightsaber at the same time, and a heavy stance. The hero can use a lightsaber with side blades like Kylo Ren from the Star Wars movies. With this weapon, the hero will deal heavy blows for more damage. However, the character’s movements will be slower in this case than when using other poses;
- Switching between different fighting styles is the key to success in certain battles, according to Stig Asmussen;
- The ability to tame mounts and use them as mounts;
- A wider range of options for exploring the area. For example, the character can hit hard-to-reach points using a new cable. The developer promises a deeper component of metroidvania.
We have five fully implemented modes in the game. Much depends on the enemy you face. It is advantageous to use certain types of stances against certain types of enemies, and it is up to the player to determine the most appropriate fighting style.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will release March 17, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Recall that during the last TGA 2022 ceremony, the developers showed a gameplay trailer for the project. It became the most popular video of the event. New gameplay of STALKER 2 from The Game Awards – two whole seconds!
