Studio EA Motive has shared new details of the remake Dead Space – it is noteworthy that the article was translated into Russian on the official website. The details concern a new mechanic called “Stress Operator”, which is supposed to make the horror movie even scarier.

“Stress Operator” works in much the same way as “Director” in Left 4 dead. The system independently manages small events to make the atmosphere more tense. For example, she can add fog, make the lights flicker, and throw some new enemies at Isaac. In total, 1200 such events have been invented, which can be combined with each other.
Let’s say you hear a Necromorph crawling in a ventilation shaft, then there’s a grate crack and then that Necromorph appears in front of you. The next time you hear a rustle from the ventilation again, turn to the grate, expecting to see a necromorph – and don’t wait. The next time no one makes a sound in the ventilation, but the grille suddenly breaks and a necromorph breaks out. You will be surprised again. And it also happens that the grille breaks, but no one gets out … and so on. A possible event consists of five, six, seven components, which do not necessarily lead to the expected result.

Earlier, the studio released new images of the remake, which shows Isaac’s updated face.
The Dead Space remake will be released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 on January 27.
