Improved version released on Steam and itch.io today Dwarf Fortress is a thunder (or dwarf) colony simulator. The main difference in this is improved graphics – now it’s not ASCII art, but pixel art. Finally, mouse support has also been added to the game.

Among other innovations, we note the presence of a full-fledged tutorial that introduces players to the basic mechanisms of survival in a procedurally generated world.
The game has been developed for 16 years – in 2006 the first alpha appeared, then the project was completed for a long time, expanding its possibilities. As mentioned above, the game used ASCII graphics (or pseudo-graphics) of text characters. However, enthusiasts have created various graphical shells and many plugins. It is not yet clear whether all this will be compatible with the updated version.
Dwarf Fortress can be purchased on Russian Steam for 1100 rubles.
