There may be a shortage of silicone implants used in breast augmentation operations in Russia. Plastic surgeon Georgy Chemyanov told socialbites.ca about this.
“We expect a certain shortage of implants, working dimensions. The surgeon will no longer have to choose from hundreds of different products, but will be faced with choosing the right one from the available. Unfortunately, this takes us back to the level of development in the early 2000s,” said Chemyanov.
The possibility of a shortage of implants is associated with the absence of domestic production of these materials in Russia.
“All existing implants installed in Russia are produced only abroad. We have no analogues, ”Chemyanov explained.
He added that plastic surgery clinics now use materials from the United States, South Korea and China. Although there is no direct ban on their import, difficulties in creating logistics chains can affect the number and variety of product types supplied to Russia.
